This release includes three sets of NLDAS-2 VIC model data: hourly, monthly, and a monthly climatology. Information on and access to these data are available at http://disc.sci.gsfc.nasa.gov/datareleases/nldas_phase_2_VIC_model_release.

Update May 14, 2014: The reprocessing for GLDAS-2.0  Noah data sets is completed. The data can be accessed from the Hydrology Data Holdings Portal. Please note that the reprocessed 0.25 degree 3-hourly files have a new file name convention as GLDAS_NOAH025_3H.AYYYYMMDD.HH00.020.grb and GLDAS_NOAH10_3H.AYYYYMMDD.HH00.020.grb (the file production time has been dropped from the file name, but kept in the corresponding metadata xml file).

A reprocessing of GLDAS Version 2.0 (GLDAS-2.0) data is ongoing. This reprocessing is to resolve an output precision issue associated with the variable, specific humidity. Therefore, only the variable, specific humidity, is affected; all other variables remain unchanged. For the period of reprocessing, the GrADS Data Server (GDS) has been disabled for the GLDAS-2.0 data set. Other data access methods remain available.

The GDS will be re-enabled after the reprocessing has been completed. As an estimate, it may take about three weeks to complete the reprocessing. Thanks a lot for your patience.

Data Information

 Current data hosted at HDISC include outputs from a series of land surface models in the Land Data Assimilation System (LDAS). Users can access the hourly 1/8th degree product for North America (NLDAS) or the 3-hourly 0.25 and 1.0 degree products globally (GLDAS). The files are in GRIB format. The static parameter data used by the LDAS models are available from the GSFC Land Information System.
