NET LONGWAVE RADIATION

Other Names

None

Definition

Net longwave radiation is a measure of the difference between outgoing longwave radiation from the earth surface and incident atmospheric longwave counter-radiation. Thus, net longwave radiation can be expressed by:

net longwave radiation (W/m^2) = outgoing longwave radiation (W/m^2) - incident longwave counter-radiation (W/m^2)

Applications

  1. Environmental issues
  2. Water cycle
  3. Energy cycle
  4. Weather forecast
  5. Climate prediction modeling
