Giovanni SeaWiFS chlorophyll analysis featured in UNESCO/IOC bulletin

SeaWiFS data in Giovanni augments the Japanese Coast Guard's monitoring of the western Pacific Ocean.

The May 2009 E-Bulletin of the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Intergovermental Oceanographic Commission  (IOC) Sub-Commission for the Western Pacific (WESTPAC)  features an article about the 26-year long monitoring program that has been conducted by the Japanese Coast Guard in the western Pacific Ocean.  Research cruises have been conducted along the 144° E longitude line between 20-30° N latitude every winter.    In the bulletin, a time-series of SeaWiFS chlorophyll concentrations generated with Giovanni for this oligotrophic region augments the discussion of the in situ monitoring data.
