The TOMS ADEOS instrument was launched on August 17 at 10:53 AM (JST) aboard a Japanese H-II rocket from the Tanegashima Space Center in Japan. The National Space Developement Agency of Japan (NASDA) has confirmed that ADEOS is functioning normally. The spacecraft will be placed into an orbit of about 800 km approximately 21 days after launch. The TOMS instrument should begin normal operations in November.
