NASA Land Cover/Land Use Change meeting convenes in Rockville, MD

The NASA Land Use/Land Cover Change (LCLUC) program is holding its annual meeting April 23-25 in Rockville, Maryland.  The focus of this meeting is on land cover and land use change in urban environments.

A description of the meeting can be found here, including a draft agenda.

Dr. Suhung Shen of the NASA Goddard Earth Sciences Data and Information Services Center (GES DISC) and George Mason University is representing the GES DISC at the meeting.  Dr. Shen has worked extensively with both the Northern Eurasia Earth Science Partnership Initiative ( http://neespi.org ) and the Monsoon Asia Integrated Regional Study ( http://www.mairs-essp.org/ ) at the GES DISC.  These activities involved the construction of dedicated data portals in the Giovanni system, and the integration of data sets of interest to the land cover and climate community in these data portals.

The late Dr. Gregory Leptoukh was an important partner in NEESPI, as described in this article:  Northern Eurasia Earth Science Partnership Initiative: evolution of scientific investigations to applicable science
