New High Resolution Dynamics Limb Sounder (HIRDLS) Version 6 Level 2 Data (HIRDLS2) are now available. The data files contain improved atmospheric concentrations of ozone (O3), nitric acid (HNO3), chloroflourocarbons (CFC-11, CFC-12), temperature, cloud top pressure, aerosol extinction (at 12.1 µm) and geopotential height.

The High Resolution Dynamics Limb Sounder (HIRDLS) instrument provides measurements of temperature, trace constituents, and aerosols from the middle troposphere to the mesosphere, with a key attribute of high vertical resolution. HIRDLS provides key measurements of atmospheric aerosols and cirrus clouds, as well as unique measurements of sub-visible cirrus. HIRDLS orbits the Earth on the NASA Aura satellite, which was launched on July 15, 2004. Aura orbits the Earth in close proximity to several other Earth observing satellites, a satellite formation called the "A-Train.
