Glory launch fails to reach orbit

NASA's Glory mission, intended to provide new scientific insights into atmospheric aerosols and solar radiation, influencing Earth's climate system, failed to reach orbit during launch today (March 4, 2011).   Preliminary analysis indicates the fault occurred with the payload fairing separation, very similar to the mishap which caused the launch failure of the Orbiting Carbon Observatory.
