GLDAS Data now Available From the HDISC

08.16.2007 - GSFC's Hydrological Sciences Branch (HSB) and Goddard Earth Sciences Data and Information Services Center (GES DISC) are pleased to announce the release of Global Land Data Assimilation System (GLDAS) Data Product.

The GLDAS Data Products consist of time series of land surface state (e.g., soil moisture and surface temperature) and flux (e.g., evaporation and sensible heat flux) parameters simulated by four land surface models (CLM, MOSAIC, NOAH and VIC). The 1.0 degree resolution data range from 1979 to present for the four models. The 0.25 degree data cover 2000 to present from the NOAH model. These products can be downloaded from the access link below. Temporal averaging and spatial subsetting will soon be available through an automated data server.

WESP-GLDAS Working Group

GLDAS is a new component of the GEWEX Hydrometeorology Panel's (GHP) Water and Energy Simulations and Prediction (WESP) Working Group. The first report of WESP-GLDAS is available from under the list of GHP working groups. The purpose of WESP-GLDAS is to coordinate global land modeling activities and share data, towards the goal of improved understanding and prediction of the land surface water and energy cycles at the global scale.
