The October 2012 issue of The Giovanni News is now available online. This special issue provides brief summaries of eight journal papers published earlier in 2012 that utilized the NASA Giovanni data analysis system. Research highlighted in this issue of the newsletter includes tracking the movement and foraging success of endangered leatherback turtles; examining the long-range transport of pollutant aerosols from the Indo-Gangetic basin; tracing dust storms over the Mediterranean sea; estimating black carbon deposition on the glaciers of the Himalayan mountain range, and more.
The next issue of the The Giovanni News will summarize the sessions of the 2012 Gregory G. Leptoukh Online Giovanni Workshop. This issue will be published in November 2012.
