The 92nd annual meeting of the American Meteorological Society is taking place this week in New Orleans, Louisiana, a city that is well-acquainted with different kinds of weather, especially the tropical kind. Two scientists from the NASA Goddard Earth Sciences Data and Information Services Center (GES DISC), Zhong Liu and Hualan Rui, are attending this prestigious meeting. Both scientists are giving scientific presentations and supported the NASA Distributed Active Archive Center (DAAC) exhibit.
On Monday, January 24, Rui presented "NASA GLDAS Evapotranspiration Data and Climatology". Her presentation discussed the Global Land Data Assimilation System (GLDAS) data archived at the GES DISC. GLDAS data is available in both the Mirador data search and order system and the Giovanni data visualization system.
On Wednesday, January 25, Liu is the first author of three poster presentations in the poster session on New Satellite Data/Climate Products and Services. The presentations are focused on data products from the Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission (TRMM):
- TRMM Precipitation Application Examples Using Data Services At NASA GES DISC, co-authored with Dana Ostrenga, Steve Kempler, Bill Teng, and Greg Leptoukh;
- Newly Released TRMM Version 7 Products, Other Precipitation Datasets and Data Services At NASA GES DISC, co-authored with Dana Ostrenga, Bill Teng, Bhagirath Trivedi, and Greg Leptoukh; and
- Online Assessment of Satellite-Derived Global Daily Precipitation Products, co-authored with G. Yu.
