Every year, the American Meteorological Society’s (AMS) Annual Meeting is one of the first scientific meetings on the calendar. This year’s meeting takes place January 4-8 at the Phoenix Convention Center in Phoenix, Arizona.
The NASA Goddard Earth Sciences Data and Information Services Center (GES DISC) will have four presentations at the 2015 AMS meeting. The first presentation will be given by Suhung Shen, describing the GES DISC effort to create a compilation of data “recipes”, which are step-by-step procedures to perform data manipulations and transformations with available tools and services, to make NASA Earth science data more applicable and more useful to data users.
An excellent example of the use of such data is found in the presentation by Andrey Savtchenko, which is co-authored by George Huffman of Goddard Space Flight Center. Their presentation examines if the recent drought in California is anomalous, or just an example of recurring precipitation variability.
Zhong Liu will give both a talk and a poster presentation. His talk is on the data products from the Global Precipitation Mission (GPM) which are now available at the GES DISC, and the services the data center provides for these data. His poster examines a comparison of Tropical Rainfall Measurement Mission (TRMM) near-real-time and research-quality data products.
The scheduled times for the presentations, and the meeting sessions in which they will take place, are given below in chronological order. The presentation and session titles are linked to the presentation abstract and the session schedule, respectively.
