TRMM Disclaimer
TRMM satellite products, Version 5, represent the second publicly-released
data set from the TRMM mission. They are NOT perfect, but were judged good
enough to be of value to the general user community. Some products have known
deficiencies, while others may not yet have been tested as thoroughly as one
would wish. In order to effectively communicate the known problems at the time
of the initial data release (Sept. 1, 1998), as well as future problems that
may still be uncovered, the TRMM project will make this information available
via the TRMM Web site at
http://trmm.gsfc.nasa.gov/data_dir/ProductStatus.html.
These pages also contain data product descriptions and other useful
information about the algorithms. Data users should read the relevant
information before using any data products, and occasionally check the site
afterwards to monitor if any new information has become available for the data
products they are using. Known deficiencies in the algorithms will be
addressed at scheduled (approximately annual) reprocessing intervals. TRMM
wishes to apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but the Science Team
felt strongly that this was the only manner in which opposing requirements for
timeliness and highest possible data quality could be met.
To obtain TRMM data, we are asking you to agree to read and understand the
status and any caveats associated with the data products and to use your
judgement regarding the suitability of these early products for your specific
applications.
By proceeding from here to download any TRMM data, you are acknowledging
that you have read this TRMM disclaimer.
