Preliminary Profiler Data from KWAJEX

This page provides instructions for accessing preliminary profiler data and images for the priority days of KWAJEX.

The preliminary profiler data archived at the NOAA Aeronomy Lab was produced by standard processing of the spectral profiler data in Boulder following the field campaign.

The NOAA Aeronomy Laboratory used two colocated Doppler radar profilers in support of TRMM KWAJEX field campaigns. The profilers were vertically directed and operated at 915 MHz and 2835 MHz respectively. They were used to observe the hydrometeors in precipitating cloud systems in the vertical column over the profilers. The Doppler spectra are processed to yield the three moments of the spectrum: the reflectivity ( in units of dBZe), Doppler fall velocity of the hydrometeors (m/s) and spectral width (m/s).
