Data Set Overview

The data in these files contains Version 4a Common Microphysics Products for the UND Citation aircraft during the TRMM/KWAJEX Field Campaign.

Sponsor

The distribution of these data sets is funded by NASA's Earth Science Enterprise. The data are not copyrighted; however, we request that when you publish data or results using these data, please acknowledge as follows:

The authors wish to thank Julie Haggerty, Research Aviation Facility, National Center for Atmospheric Research, Boulder, Colorado for the production of these data and the Data and Information Services Center(Code 610.2) at the Goddard Space Flight Center, Greenbelt, MD, 20771, which archives and distributes them under sponsorship of NASA's Earth Science Enterprise.

The Files

Naming convention

The naming convention for the cmp files is

cfp_vers#_yyyymmddhhmm_expname_acname_totseg#
where:
cmp/cfp = common microphysical data file or common flight data product;
# = version number;
yyyymmddhhmm = year, month, day, hour & minute of the start of the leg;
expname = experiment name;
acname = aircraft name;
total # of 1-km segments to the flight

Formats

Each file corresponds to a flight leg defined in:

http://www.atmos.washington.edu/gcg/MG/kwajex/ops-web/prioritylegs/all_flt_legs/all_flt_legs.html

For example, cmp_vers4a_199908301910_kwajex_cit_046.txt corresponds to the flight leg starting at 1910 UTC on August 3rd, 1999.

There are two different types of files contained within the version 4a data set:

CMP files

These are Common Microphysics Product files containing the information and formatted according to the CMP Document:

TRMM Common Microphysics Product Definition

CFP files

These are Common Flight Product files used as input to the software for generating the CMP files:
