GLDAS Version 2.0 data sets released by NASA GES DISC

The NASA GSFC Hydrological Sciences Laboratory (HSL) and the Goddard Earth Sciences Data and Information Services Center (GES DISC) are pleased to announce the release of the Global Land Data Assimilation System Version 2.0 (GLDAS-2.0) data sets and their availability from the GES DISC Hydrology Portal.

GLDAS-2.0 is one of two components of the GLDAS Version 2 (GLDAS-2) data set, the second being GLDAS-2.1. GLDAS-2.0 is forced with the Princeton meteorological forcing data set. It covers the period 1948 - 2010 for 1.0ox1.0o data and 1948 - 2000 for 0.25ox0.25o data, and will be extended to more recent years as corresponding forcing data become available. GLDAS-2.1 is forced with a combination of model- and observation-based forcing data sets. It covers the period from 2001 (2000 for 0.25ox0.25o) to the present, with about one-month latency; it will be updated monthly. GLDAS-2.1 is analogous to the current GLDAS Version 1 (GLDAS-1) product stream.

This release of GLDAS-2.0 includes 3-hourly and monthly 0.25ox0.25o and 1.0ox1.0o data sets from the Noah model (Table 1). More information about GLDAS-2.0 data is available in the GLDAS-2 README document. The GLDAS-2.1 data are scheduled for release in 2014.
