OMI TRANSITION PLAN

This is a DRAFT plan.

OMI Data at the GES DISC: Transition from ECS to S4PA (6/8/07)

Level-0 Data

  • Cutover of interfaces:
    • EDOS: Cutover of incoming Level-0 data flow to S4PA (auraraw1), occurred in January 2007.
  • Ingest: Level-0 data are transferred from EDOS to GES DISC S4PA, all Level-0 data are V001.
  • Archive location: S4PA (auraraw1)
  • Data Access/Distribution: Data are distributed to OMI SIPS via subscription. OMI SIPS can access data via hidden FTP or the Machine Request Interface (MRI).
  • Migration: Level-0 migration from ECS to S4PA is complete. S4PA holdings are reconciled with ECS.
  • Public Release: No.
  • Backups/Replication/Recovery: Data replicated on backup S4PA server; Weekly delivery of backup tapes from the GES DISC to GSFC Bldg 28 for backup and storage.

Ancillary Data

  • NISE: Obtained from NSIDC and distributed from ECS until OMI SIPS obtains data directly from NSIDC; target date: TBD
  • Leapsec, UTCpole: Data currently acquired from USNO and archived/distributed through ECS; S4PA data acquisition/archive/distribution functionality in place; awaiting final testing of S4PA output by OMI SIPS to complete cutover to S4PA.
  • Data Access/Distribution (subscriptions, MRI, FTP): Data are distributed to OMI SIPS via subscription. OMI SIPS can access data via hidden FTP or MRI.
  • Public Release: No.
  • Backups/Replication/Recovery: Weekly delivery of backup tapes from the GES DISC to GSFC Bldg 28 for backup and storage.

DPREP (Data preprocessing of instrument attitude and ephemeris)

  • NOTE: Mini-MOSS Test scheduled for week of 6/18/2007
  • Input data: Current feed from input data providers (EMOS, FDD) to ECS, subscription from ECS to S4PA; transition of input feed from ECS to S4PA after successful Mini-MOSS Test (~ 7/1/07).
  • Processing location(s): ECS (SGI) and non-ECS (Linux), concurrently.
  • Archive location(s): ECS and S4PA. Operational archive will transition to S4PA after successful Mini-MOSS Test.
  • Distribution: Subscriptions to OMI Team; Operational feed to OMI Team from ECS until Mini-MOSS Test. Upon successful completion of Mini-MOSS Test the operational flow will be from S4PA.
  • Method(s) of access: Machine Request Interface (MRI) on S4PA.
  • Public Release: No.
  • Backups/Replication/Recovery: Weekly delivery of backup tapes from the GES DISC to GSFC Bldg 28 for backup and storage.

Level 1 data

  • V002 data
    • Ingest: Collection 002 data are transferred from OMI SIPS and ingested into ECS.
    • Archive location(s): ECS for V002 data.
    • Distribution: Available to authorized users via subscription only (ODPS).
    • User Interfaces/Data Access: None.
    • Public release: No.
    • Migration: There are no current plans to migrate L1 data from ECS as it was never released to the public.
    • Backups/Replication/Recovery: Backup volume group on ECS.
  • V003 data
    • Ingest: Collection 003 data will be transferred from OMI SIPS and ingested into S4PA.
    • Archive location(s): S4PA (aurapar1) for V003 data.
    • Distribution: Available via subscription only (non-public).
    • User Interfaces/Data Access: Retricted access until data are released to the public, then via WHOM, Reverb/ECHO, Mirador, FTP and Machine Request Interface (MRI).
    • Public release: No (Target date: August 2007).
    • Migration: Not applicable, V003 data will go directly into S4PA.
    • Backups/Replication/Recovery: Weekly delivery of backup tapes from the GES DISC to GSFC Bldg 28 for backup and storage.

Level 2 data

  • V002 data
    • Ingest: Collection 002 data are transferred from OMI SIPS and ingested into ECS; L2 OMUVB transferred from FMI and ingested into S4PA; L2G transferred from OMI SIPS and ingested into S4PA.
    • Archive location(s): ECS for V002 data; S4PA (acdisc) for L2G and L2 OMUVB; V002 data copied from ECS into S4PA with restricted access (non-public).
    • Distribution: Available via subscription and through User Interfaces.
    • User Interfaces/Data Access: WHOM, Reverb/ECHO, Mirador.
    • Public release: Yes, currently from ECS.
    • Migration: Data copied from ECS to S4PA with operational support from S4PA no later than 8/31/2007, approximately coincident with the completion of V002 processing. [Consistent with EOS Data Policy old version of data will be retained for 6 months after new version is archived, Public access to old version may be removed.].
    • Backups/Replication/Recovery: Backup volume group on ECS.
  • V003 data
    • Ingest: Collection 003 data are transferred from OMI SIPS, ODPS and ingested into S4PA.
    • Archive location(s): S4PA (aurapar2, acdisc).
    • Distribution: Available via subscription and through User Interfaces when released to public.
    • User Interfaces/Data Access: After public release via FTP, WHOM, Reverb/ECHO, Mirador, Machine Request Interface (MRI).
    • Public release: No (Products made public at direction of OMI Science Team).
    • Migration: Not applicable, V003 data go directly into S4PA.
    • Backups/Replication/Recovery: Weekly delivery of backup tapes from the GES DISC to GSFC Bldg 28 for backup and storage.
