-
Aura/OMI
EOS-Aura Ozone Monitoring Instrument (OMI) provides Aerosol Extinction Optical Depth (AOD), Aerosol Absorption Optical Depth (AAOD) at 354, 388 and 500 nm and UV and Visible Aerosol Index at spatial resolution of 13x24 km. (explore OMI Aersol Index in OMI Giovanni).
-
Terra/MODIS and Aqua/MODIS
Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer, optical scanner aboard the Terra and Aqua satellites, views the Earth in 36 channels with spatial resolution ranging from 250 meters to 1 kilometer. (explore selected Aerosol Parameters in MOVAS)
-
Earth Probe/TOMS, ADEOS/TOMS and Nimbus-7/TOMS
Total Ozone Mapping Spectroradiometer, made measurements of ozone, aerosol, reflectance and erythyemal UV values from the Earth Probe, ADEOS and Nimbus-7 satellites. TOMS is the only instrument that provided a long-term record of almost 30 years of Global Aerosol Information. (explore TOMS Aersol Index in TOMS Giovanni).
-
UARS HALOE
HALOE sensor flown on UARS Satellite provided long data set of vertical Profiles of Aerosol Extinction in addition to other Atmospheric Profiles.
-
SeaWIFS
The Sea-viewing Wide Field-of-view Sensor (SeaWiFS), an Earth-orbiting ocean color sensor, provides quantitative data on global ocean bio-optical properties.
-
Terra/MISR
The Multi-angle Imaging SpectroRadiometer (MISR) aboard the Terra satellite views the sunlit Earth simultaneously at nine widely-spaced angles, providing radiometrically and geometrically calibrated images in four spectral bands at each of the angles with spatial sampling of 275 and 1100 meters. (explore selected Aerosol Parameters in MOVAS)
-
NOAA/AVHRR
Reflectances and brightness temperatures derived from the five-channel cross-track scanning AVHRR aboard the NOAA Polar Orbiter 'afternoon' satellites (NOAA-7, -9, and -11) provides Aerosol Information in addition to ozone and sea surface temperature.
-
AEM-B/SAGE I
The Stratospheric Aerosol and Gas Experiment I (SAGE I) aboard the Applications Explorer Mission-B (AEM-B) satellite provided measurements of aerosol extinction profiles and ozone and nitrogen dioxide concentration profiles at four spectral channels centered at wavelengths of 1000, 600, 450, and 385 nanometers.
-
ERBS/SAGE II
The Stratospheric Aerosol and Gas Experiment II (SAGE II) aboard the Earth Radiation Budget Satellite (ERBS) aquires aerosols, ozone, nitrogen dioxide, water vapor and cloud occurrence data.
-
Meteor-3M/SAGE III
The Stratospheric Aerosol and Gas Experiment III (SAGE III) aboard Russian Meteor-3M(1) platform obtains profile measurements of aerosol extinction, ozone, water vapor, nitrogen dioxide, nitrogen trioxide, chlorine dioxide, clouds, temperature and pressure in the mesosphere, stratosphere, and upper troposphere with a vertical resolution of 0.5 - 1 km resolution.
-
Nimbus-7/SAM II
Data obtained from the SAM II (Stratospheric Aerosol Measurement II) instrument, which flew on board the Nimbus-7 satellite, are used to determine the vertical distribution of stratospheric aerosols in the polar regions of both hemispheres.
-
ERS-2/GOME
Global aerosol data retrieved from the Global Ozone Monitoring Experiment (GOME) and SCIAMACHY measurements. The retrieval is carried out by top of Atmosphere (TOA) reflectances in nadir-viewing conditions, using channels selected in the most transparent atmospheric windows.
-
ENVISAT-1/SCIAMACHY
SCIAMACHY (SCanning Imaging Absorption spectroMeter for Atmospheric CartograpHY) on board ENVISAT is a passive remote sensing spectrometer observing backscattered, reflected, transmitted or emitted radiation from the atmosphere and Earth's surface, in the wavelength range between 240 and 2380 nm.
